Is Your Office Space Productive?

More often then any of us care to admit, closing the door to our home office is our way of being organized. However, science has shown that one will accomplish more when the space is functional. And to accomplish functionally, your home office must provide storage space and comfort.

Here are four simple tips to create the space of productivity AND tranquility.
  1. MOVE UP ~ Wall mount filing and mail organizers to free up desk space and keep things in easy reach. Add an over sized wall cork board to keep track of event reminders. We suggest decorating the board for a stylish piece of wall art. This can be easily accomplished by attaching ribbon to divide the board into squares for the month. Use removable stickers to label days of the week. A great touch to the board is to frame it out.
  2. COLOR ~ Warm tones and a simple design will create the tranquil environment for any home office. Toned greens are a popular shade with today's consumers ~ think golden-yellow greens. Whatever color of choice, be sure you feel relaxed, yet productive, in the room.
  3. KEEP IT PERSONAL ~ Bring in items that are dear to you . . . photos, mementos, plants, etc. Just because this is the home office does not mean it has be dull or generic.
  4. ADD COMFORT ~ If the space allows, add a club chair for comfort and accent with a small side table. This will provide you with an area for relaxing, catching up your reading, etc.
